After finishing my B.Sc. with Microbiology / Chemistry from Sophia College (Mumbai, India), I proceeded to USA for further studies for my MLS (ASCP). Then I worked as a full time medical technologist at the Watts Hospital Laboratory, USA. On return, I joined my alma mater, Sophia College, as a professor with their Postgraduate Programmes in Medical Technology (Diploma in Clinical Analysis), a post I served for over 40 years. The DCA was recognized for 16th year in USA in which many of our students pursued an M.S. programme and got admission to a Ph.D. programme.
Along the years, I have been invited to be on the Guest Faculties of various Colleges and Universities in USA. I also take great pride for having served on the board of examiners for Mumbai University for their Postgraduate Programme in Medical Technology (DMLT).
I was instrumental in pioneering India’s First Workshop in Medical Technology in 1980 together with DCA at Sophia College. I have initiated over 250 workshops and seminars since then. I am an Associate EMERITUS member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, USA and a Founder Member, Ex-President and Present Secretary for Association of Medical Technologists (Western India).
I started my company, Spenta Techline Systems, in 1971 which specializes in Consultancy for Medical Technology Education, Laboratory Setup & Management, Training NPT (Near Patient Testing) sales team, Conducting Mock Audits for Quality Control and Assurance, Conducting Audits for NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories), Documentation for NABL & NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers).
Over the years, Spenta Techline Systems has consulted for several private laboratories in India & abroad, helping them set up and manage their labs with stringent Quality Control guidelines. Spenta Techline Systems has also consulted for various reputed Multi-National Companies (MNCs) in developing protocols, writing work manuals, training of staff, selection of kits and reagents from aboard and their Quality Control & Performance.
Another milestone in my journey, which has had many paths that I have tread on, is also a Premier Diploma Programme accruing 33 credits affiliated to Garware Institute of Career Education & Development (GICED) for Mumbai University along with excellent teaching programmes in Medical Technology for various Hospitals & Universities.
Going forward, through Spenta Techline Systems, I wish to use my knowledge and experience to set higher standards in the field of Medical Technology.
